Possessing The Land
In the bible we read of the
great exodus, in which the Israelites were lead out of bondage and slavery.
God leads them out of Egypt through the wilderness. They face many battles
and tribulations through out the journey but God leads them through them
all. It is interesting to note that if one were to go directly from Egypt to
the land that God had lead the Israelites to, the journey would take only
eleven days but because of their distrust of God and disobedience The Lord
lead them around in the wilderness for forty years. Even then , upon their
arrival to the promised land they sent out spies to spy out the land. The
spies returned from spying out the land.
Num 13:26-33 (KJV) And they brought up an evil
report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel,
saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that
eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are
men of a great stature. 33 And there we saw the
giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own
sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. )
Num
14:6-9 (KJV) 6 And Joshua the son of Nun,
and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land,
rent their clothes:7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of
Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an
exceeding good land.8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into
this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.9 Only
rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for
they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is
with us: fear them not.
So we see in the passage above
that there were two who trusted in the Lord to go before them in the battle.
These two, Joshua and Caleb were the only two of those who were originally
given the promise, that were allowed to go in and possess the land because
they trusted in the Lord to go before them in the battle and to give the
enemy into their hands . Because they trusted the Lord and believed Him, the
Lord made them victorious over their enemies, and they possessed the land
which God had promised.
The Peace of God surpasses
all understanding and comes with trust in God's thoughts and his Love
toward you. Knowing God's Love for us and his wisdom combined gives us a
peace in our hearts knowing that in all things God will bring us through.
Knowing that no matter what we face in the earth that God is with us and
goes before us in the battle. He will never forsake us nor leave us.
Heb 13:6 (KJV) Let your conversation be
without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he
hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.6 So that we may boldly
say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Psalms 140:7 (KJV) O GOD the Lord, the strength
of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
Are there
giants in your promised land ?
Whose Report Will You Believe?
Even in our lives today God
has a plan for each of his children. God desires to remove from our lives
the things that hinder us and keep us from possessing the promises that he
has made to us. Many have things in their lives that hold us back from the
promises of God. These are the giants of our day. Giants that keep us from the
things of God. Look at your life. What is holding you back? What is standing
in your way? Does the mountain seem to tall? A mountain never seemed so big
as when you stand at the bottom looking at the distance from the bottom to
the top. But every mountain climber knows , that the way to the summit is to
take the first step. In our Christian walk we have mountains to climb, and
giants to fight but God has made a way. He has given us Jesus to light the
way and to provide for our needs along the way. He has gone so far as to
overcome the world for us and to give us power and authority over the powers
of darkness so that we can be free from the bondages of sin and possess the
promised land . Often times we let sin overpower us even though God has
given us the power over these things. Many times it is sin in our lives that
keeps us from reaching the promised land. Sexual sins addictions and other
bondages such as fear are like roadblocks on the road set before us. While
the Lord has provided for our salvation through the shed blood of Jesus,
there are also many promises that God desires to bless us with. But many
times we let these road blocks stand in the way, because we are afraid to
even attempt to overcome these things and we aren't trusting in God to
bring us into the victory.
Matt
6:33-34 (KJV)
But seek ye first the kingdom
of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.34 Take therefore no thought
for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Jer 29:11-13 (KJV)
11 For I know the thoughts
that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end.12 Then shall ye call upon me,
and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.13 And ye shall seek me, and
find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Are you trusting in the Lord
to lead you into your victory against the giants in your promised land ? Seek the Lord and his
righteousness and he will supply your needs. Trust in the Lord to deliver you
from the bondages of sin in your life and possess the land God has promised
to you. If you want to see Gods will fulfilled in your life seek him and
his will. As God leads you to remove things from your life, trust in him to
do what his word promises. God won't ask you to do a thing that he won't
equip you to do. If he directs you to remove a sin and live a certain way
then trust that he has given you the ability to over come these things in
your life. Trust in him to lead you in the way. you should go. Follow Him
God will deliver you from addictions and teach you to over come fears by
trusting in Him. Follow the Lord and don't let anything stand in your way.
Put God first in your life and let nothing come between you and God. Trust
in Him he will not fail you.
He who has promised is
faithful to do what he has promised. It is much simpler for us to trust in
the Lord than to wander in the wilderness for forty years like the
Israelites did because of their unbelief and distrust.
