The Fear of the Lord, What America Lacks!
Key Verse: Ps 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the
inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Psalm 33:1 -22 (KJV)
1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an
instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a
loud noise. 4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done
in truth. 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the
goodness of the LORD. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and
all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathereth the waters
of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. 8 Let
all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in
awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood
fast. 10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh

vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that
hope in his mercy; 19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them
alive in famine. 20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our
shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in
his holy name. 22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in
thee.
Fear of the Lord
Ps 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of
the LORD.
What is the fear of the Lord ?
A learned thing.
My Experience
Pr 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children
shall have a place of refuge.
Our Definitions:
Reverence In general: A respectful and submissive disposition of mind,
arising from affection, esteem, fear, awe and a sense of the superiority of
the person reverenced. Christians are commanded to show reverence toward God
and the things that are His.
Fear of God: Apprehension or dread of impending danger or trouble; also,
awe, profound reverence, especially for God. Great stress is laid upon the
fear of God as a necessary attribute to the relation between humanity and
Deity. In the Old Testament, this often takes the form of dread or sheer
terror, but in the New Testament the emphasis falls more upon reverence and
deep respect for His greatness and mercy.
It is a reverence, a worshipful attitude that comes from awe and respect of
Gods powerful presence, his holiness, his omnipotence. It is what turns us
away from sin. A respect and love for God because of all of his attributes.
When we come to know him we see God as he is and because we do we reverence
his greatness.
JESUS SAID:
Matthew 10: 27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what
ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them
which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him
which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
You cannot have the fear of the lord except that you know him.
As you come to know God and see him as majestic and holy then as you come
into close relationship with him the awe and reverence will increase as we
think on him and consider his ways in truth.
INTIMACY In To Me See
As your level of intimacy with God increases so will the Fear of the Lord in
your life. Because you cannot come nigh unto the Lord except that you come
humbly and in truth , for God resists the proud and gives grace to the
humble.
Pr 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before
honour is humility.
The Bibles Definitions:
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is
wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
Ps 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good
understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth
for ever
Pr 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the
evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Pr 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge
of the holy is understanding.
Pr 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the
snares of death.
2) What are the promises to those who fear the Lord?
Ps 25:14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew
them his covenant. {and...: or, and his covenant to make them know it}
Ps 33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them
that hope in his mercy;
Ps 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and
delivereth them.
Ps 103:17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon
them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
3) What is the result of the lack of the fear of the Lord ?
Pr 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in
the LORD shall be safe.
Mal 1:6 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a
father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith
the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say,
Wherein have we despised thy name?
Malachi 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift
witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false
swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the
widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right,
and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
LIP SERVICE
Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me
with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their
heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
God is not interested in lip service.
TRUE REPENTANCE is needed.
Jer 15:6 Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward:
therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am
weary with repenting.

Lack of the fear of the Lord not only has Personal Repercussions but it has
widespread repercussions as well.
A. Biblical Example :The Days of Noah
Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth,
and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man
whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the
creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have
made them. 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Sodom and Gomorrah
God had sent two angels to rescue Lot, his wife and his daughters. Then God
destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the wickedness of the people had become so
bad. They did as they pleased one with another. Sodom is the city which the
word sodomy was derived from. As we can see there was in those days
throughout the city a great lack of reverence or the fear of the Lord.
Ge 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and
fire from the LORD out of heaven;25 And he overthrew those cities, and all
the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon
the ground. 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a
pillar of salt. 27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place
where he stood before the LORD: 28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah,
and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the
country went up as the smoke of a furnace. (PROMISE) 29 And it came to pass,
when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and
sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in
the which Lot dwelt.
B. Modern Day Example and its cost
America is in a spiral of moral decay because of a lack of the fear of the
Lord. Now the repercussions have come and we suffer and along with us our
children suffer and are engulfed in darkness as gross darkness covers the
earth.
Theyve allowed prayer to be removed from the schools, where once the bible
itself was the text used for teaching. Gods name is looked upon as a though
it were a crime to utter it publicly. Our government has been over run by
liberalists who want everything to be politically correct but morals and
Godly values are no longer considered important in our society. In a country
whose very foundation was built on the name of the Lord, now we drive every
remembrance of him from our lives. We are backslidden. America is become
like a prostitute bride who has run off to be with another lover. She has
left her first love. The door for the enemy has been allowed to swing open
wide because the whore of pride and arrogance has her foot in the door to
open up to her lover through the lusts of the flesh and to allow all manner
of evil in the name of politically correctness. America has become a man
pleaser and has forsaken the fear of the Lord. God have mercy.
Pr 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a
fall.
HISTORY FORGOTTEN
This is worth remembering, because it is true. It's familiar territory,
but..... Those of you that graduated from school after the early 60's were
probably never taught this. Our courts have seen to that!
Did you know that 52 of the 55 signers of "The Declaration of Independence"
were orthodox, deeply committed, Christians? The other three all believed in
the Bible as the divine truth, the God of scripture, and His personal
intervention.
It is the same Congress that formed the American Bible Society, immediately
after creating the Declaration of Independence, the Continental Congress
voted to purchase and import 20,000 copies of Scripture for the people of
this nation.
Patrick Henry, who is called the firebrand of the American Revolution, is
still remembered for his words, "Give me liberty or give me death"; but in
current textbooks, the context of these words is omitted. Here is what he
actually said:
"An appeal to arms and the God of hosts is all that is left us. But we shall
not fight our battle alone. There is a just God that presides over the
destinies of nations. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone. Is life
so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and
slavery? Forbid it Almighty God. I know not what course others may take, but
as for me, give me liberty, or give me death."
These sentences have been erased from our textbooks. Was Patrick Henry a
Christian? The following year, 1776, he wrote this:
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great Nation
was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on
the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths
have been afforded freedom of worship here."
Consider these words that Thomas Jefferson wrote in the front of his
well-worn Bible: "I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the
doctrines of Jesus.
I have little doubt that our whole country will soon be rallied to the unity
of our creator." He was also the chairman of the American Bible Society,
which he considered his highest and most important role.
On July 4, 1821, President Adams said, "The highest glory of the American
Revolution was this: "It connected in one indissoluble bond the principles
of civil government with the principles of Christianity."
Calvin Coolidge, our 30th President of the United States reaffirmed this
truth when he wrote, "The foundations of our society and our government rest
so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support
them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in
our country."
In 1782, the United States Congress voted this resolution: "The Congress of
the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all
schools."
William Holmes McGuffey is the author of the McGuffey Reader, which was used
for over 100 years in our public schools with over 125 million copies sold
until it was stopped in 1963. President Lincoln called him the schoolmaster
of the Nation." Listen to these words of Mr. McGuffey:
"The Christian religion is the religion of our country. >From it are derived
our nation, on the character of God, on the great moral Governor of the
universe.
On its doctrines are founded the peculiarities of our free Institutions.
>From no source has the author drawn more conspicuously than from the sacred
Scriptures. From all these extracts from the Bible, I make no apology."
Of the first 108 universities founded in America, 106 were distinctly
Christian, including the first, Harvard University, chartered in 1636. In
the original Harvard Student Handbook, rule number 1 was that students
seeking entrance must know Latin and Greek so that they could study the
Scriptures: "Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed
to consider well, the main end of his life and studies, is, to know God and
Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3; and therefore to lay Jesus
Christ as the only foundation for our children to follow the moral
principles of the Ten Commandments."
(Note: HEBREW most certainly should have been included as a required
language in the Harvard Student Handbook of Rules, as Hebrew is the language
of GOD Almighty and the ORIGINIAL language of the Jewish people, Yeshua
(Jesus) included, who was a Jew. ⦠Suzánne Sandifer.)
James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution of the United States,
said this: "We have staked the whole future of all our political
constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern ourselves
according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments."
Today, we are asking God to bless America. But, how can He bless a Nation
that has departed so far from Him? Prior to September 11, He was not welcome
in America. Most of what you read in this article has been erased from our
textbooks. Revisionists have rewritten history to remove the truth about our
country's Christian roots.
You are encouraged to share this with others, so that the truth of our
nation's history will be told.
John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life!
This information shared is only a drop of cement to help secure a foundation
that is crumbling daily in a losing war that most of the country doesn't
even know is raging on, in, and around them.
